Carling McMichael D.C., B.S.
Dr. Carling McMichael graduated from Palmer Chiropractic College of the West in San Jose, California. During her time in school, she spent hundreds of hours providing on-field care for athletes in a variety of sports including football, cycling, lacrosse, rugby and soccer. Dr. McMichael also spent time treating patients at the Veteran’s Affairs Hospital in Martinez where she was able to work on rehabilitation and pain management with many of the patients there. She continues to have a passion for helping the veteran population, and is currently a vendor for the Long Beach VA Hospital.

Prior to Chiropractic school, Dr. McMichael attended California State University, Long Beach where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology with minors in Chemistry and French. During her tenure at CSULB, Carling volunteered at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Long Beach as a Clinical Care Extender. She spent 3 years doing rotations in the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Labor and Delivery, Operating Room, and Medsurge Unit to name a few. She decided to pursue a career in Chiropractic after her experience at St. Mary’s made her realize that health care should be focused on preventative and wellness care.

Since joining Bloch Chiropractic in Fall 2014, Dr. McMichael has been treating gymnasts of all ages at the American Gymnastics Academy in Signal Hill. She spends time working on soft tissue and mobilization ailments in these young athletes as well as focusing on preventative care. Dr. McMichael is also working with the Men’s National Water Polo Team providing practice and game coverage, as well as managing and maintaining proper musculoskeletal function throughout their intensive training schedule.

Dr. McMichael is interested in sports chiropractic including the treatment and management of concussion and concussive screening. She believes that baseline evaluations during pre-season for all sports is an important tool in properly recognizing and diagnosing concussions, especially in younger athletes, as well as preventing post concussive syndrome and second impact syndrome. She is currently in the process of becoming a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) and plans on becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. She is certified in Rock Tape application, Graston technique and Myofascial Release Technique.
